The Mac’s/CircleK StreetART Mural initiative creates strategic partnerships in an effort to help prevent crime and strengthen community relationships. The program builds a community-based shared responsibility to prevent crime, such as graffiti, shoplifting, and robbery incidents–not only at the store, but on the property as well. Engaging the community, especially the youth, will empower them to make a positive difference and also strengthen relationships between the community and each Mac’s/CircleK store. This unique concept caught the attention of Katy DeCelles, a Professor from Harvard University and University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies. About The Tournament: Detective Sgt Dean Morrissey was a dedicated and well respected member of the OPP who was a great supporter of the Crime Stoppers program. Dean passed away unexpectedly in early 2009. Dean was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at Forest City Golf course. Come out and celebrate Deans life with his friends and family and help raise money for two great causes. The Jailathon is back again! This year, our annual Jailathon will take place Thursday April 30th, 2015 at the Covent Garden Market in Downtown London, 8:30am-4:00pm. About The Jailathon The Jailathon started 25 years ago and is the biggest fund raiser for London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers. It's a fun day with participants having a great time year after year. How It Works The "jailbirds" start to appear in the mock Crime Stoppers court before the judge at 9 a.m. They can bring their own lawyer or use "duty counsel". They will have already raised some of their bail via donations and pledges before the event, but after pleading their case, they may be asked to raise more bail, depending on the serious of the charge.
