I am grateful for the opportunity to provide this report as vice-chair for the 2019 year. 2019 was a year of growth and transformation for the Board of Crimestoppers Elgin Middlesex, and I am excited for the opportunities that 2020 will most certainly bring, as we continue to work in furtherance of the goal of anonymous reporting, solving and preventing crime, and safer communities.

As a Board we have endeavoured to expand the presence and visibility of our program throughout the geographic areas we serve, and have had great success in doing so this fiscal. Through our various events in London, Elgin and the greater Middlesex area, we have worked to engage community members both on the ground and through our greatly expanded presence on social media. Furthermore, we have had new board member applications from individuals from both within and outside the City of London, which will continue to facilitate our engagement within these communities.

Crime Stoppers programs across the country are not supported by government funding, and therefore we rely on support from our community members and donors. Through our annual events, we endeavour to raise both funds and awareness, and had great success with several marketing initiatives this year, including Human Trafficking Initiatives, Emergency Services Day, the High-school student video contest, the Jailathon and assisting with the joint-OPP Campaign to solve the historic homicide of Sonya Cywink.

The continued existence and success of the LEM Crime Stoppers programs relies on support from our community members, stakeholders and dedicated volunteers, including our Board members, for whom we are extremely grateful. Over the past year we have begun to consider the opportunities for the Board and the program in the future, and have begun assembling a plan to reengage our police partners, increase the level of engagement from our valued community stakeholders, and focus on increasing our membership ranks.

With this report, I would thank all members of LEM Crime Stoppers, and in particular our formidable Chair, Al Gibson, for their dedication to the program and its continued success.

As always, I remain,

Yours very truly,

Alicia Godin
