The Jailathon is back!Thursday, May 23rd 2019 9:00am - 4:00pm Covent Garden Market, LondonThis is our 30th annual event where community members volunteer to act as Jailbirds, and are placed in jail having been accused of committing various offences. The Jailbirds are required to raise bail in order to secure their release. The event runs from 9:00 am until 4:00.Among this year's Jailbirds are: Chief Pare of the London Police Service, Mayor Ed Holder, Karen Vecchio the Member of Parliament for Elgin-Middlesex-London.More details coming soon!

I Was Lased A First-Person Account By Capt. Sean O’Leary (FedEx Express) My first officer was flying the approach into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. We were 11 to 12 miles out from the airport—about 3,000 feet above ground level on a dogleg final. I saw a light on the ground a couple of miles to our left, about nine miles east of the airport, from what looked like an intersection near a shopping area. On May 1st LEMCS attended International Emergency Services Day in Strathroy. Board members Nathan, Emmet and Al staffed our table and handed out items to hundreds of kids and information to parents. Our program supports this event and donates money for buses so kids can attend. Elgin County OPP are renewing a call for information in connection to the deaths of Roger Smith, 40, and Wendy Haveron, 45, who were killed 20 years ago at their dairy farm near St. Thomas, Ont. In the early hours of Feb. 2, 1999, police and fire officials were called to a house fire at the common-law couple's home. An investigation revealed that they were killed by blunt force trauma, and that their home was deliberately set ablaze, according to an OPP news release. Click here to read the full story on cbc.ca

On January 16 2019 London Elgin Middlesex Crime Stoppers partnered with Salvation Army to host a human trafficking awareness event. Over 325 attended to hear Caroline talk about being trafficked herself. London Police and OPP furthered the discussion by providing details about how human trafficking is in our own backyard in a big way. These videos were the first part of this project and were produced by Western students for Crime Stoppers during their spring term in 2018. Posters, billboards and signage on transit buses will follow this year.
